About
Welcome to Bluewater Grill - Coronado, a hidden gem tucked beside Hotel Del and the harbor. This seafood restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with a focus on fresh and delicious meals. With a menu that includes ahi poke, sand dabs, rotating seasonal specials, and scallops, you're sure to find something to tantalize your taste buds.
What sets Bluewater Grill apart is their commitment to quality and service. Unlike many places, they don't add bacon to their New England clam chowder, allowing the flavors of the seafood to shine through. Their cocktails, like the Mai Thai, are not only delicious but also come in cute mugs that you can take home as a souvenir.
The ambiance at Bluewater Grill is inviting, with the option to dine on their cozy patio or inside overlooking the harbor. The service here is top-notch, with servers treating every guest like royalty. Whether you're looking for a relaxing lunch, a romantic dinner, or a fun night out with friends, Bluewater Grill has something for everyone.
“ Tucked beside Hotel Del and the harbor is this delightful seafood restaurant. I first discovered them at the annual Pokémon festival at Bali Hai, so needless to say: get the ahi poké. Other items I have enjoyed include their sand dabs, rotating seasonal specials, and scallops. Always fresh, light, and delicious meals. There's been a pattern that a lot of places serve their New England clam chowder with bacon and (happily for me) they don't do that here. Cocktails are delicious, particularly their Mai Thai that comes in a cute mug you can opt to buy as a souvenir that features the different locations of this restaurants along with that port's maritime flag. Every server I had interacted with has treated me like a queen, very warm, personable, and attentive. If you can, sit in the patio, so you can enjoy the fresh air and boats docked in the harbor. Inside also looks cozy and nice but I prefer the patio. ”
“ If you're from the area, or just visiting, Bluewater Grill in Coronado is definitely a must do for seafood. Stopped in thinking we were just going to grab a quick drink for HH, we quickly realized that we'd need to hang around a bit more than that. We did start off with a taste of Sushi on the HH Bites menu; solid stuff and reasonably priced for 4 pieces. After polishing off a HH drink and the starter we opted to relocate from the bar (note; there are 2; one on the main floor by the entrance and another on the 2nd floor, which I recommend) to a window side table with a view of the harbor. So Bluewater is a win for ambiance and the service at both the Bar (thanks Lee). Upstairs, with equally great service, we had ourselves a feast. We shared the MAnhattan Clam Chowder, plenty of chunks of clam, just the right balance of vegetables and a delicious and flavorful base, not too spicey and not dull. We also split the Crab Salad (which is a meal in itself) and the Swordfish special. Served over a bed of rice with a glaze that is not sweet nor tart, but brought out the flavor of the fish. As noted, you do have to hit up the Bluewater if you're going to be in Coronado! ”
“ Amazing food and ambiance. Dog friendly, service was unmatched! Everything I had was delicious. Photo below of the bouillabaisse ”
“ Bluewater grill is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Coronado. It's in a historic building, the staff are INCREDIBLE and the food is always great. Make sure to come hungry , the bread is out of this world and will fill you up before you even get your food. ”
“ Delicious seafood! Our party of 4 went the week of Christmas for dinner, we had reservations and were seated right away. Service is friendly and fast, the ambiance of the interior was nicely decorated for the holiday season. We ordered 2 cocktails, sashimi scallops, grilled octopus, 2 oyster shooters and 4 fish entrees. (Ahi tuna, fish and chips, cod, swordfish) All the seafood was cooked perfectly, which was pleasant. Everything tasted really fresh and flavorful. We had a great time here, definitely recommend if you're in Coronado! ”
“ We were in Coronado and wanted to grab a dinner and this place was close by and seemed nice so we decided to give it a try. We were seated right away since it was before the dinner rush came in. The appetizer crab dip was nice. Good seasoning, a little bit of heat and the chips were still warm, a nice bonus point for that! A friend got a halibut dish and she really enjoyed it (no picture here). My other friend got a burger, he was not impressed saying that the burger didn't have much taste. I tried it and he was right. My cioppino tasted very good. I was not very impressed with the ingredients but the seasoning was nicely done. For an impromptu dinner, we left the restaurant happy. ”
“ I came here with family the night before our wedding and it a perfect place to go! My wedding planner recommended it. We stayed at Hotel Del Coronado and it's literally right across the street so we could walk there. The views are great on the water. The ambiance inside is very nice too. I wanted something on the lighter side (had to fit in the wedding dress) and there were quite a few tasty options. I settled on the Seafood Louie Salad with the lobster upgrade ($29) and it was so good! So much lobster packed in- like a healthier alternative to a lobster roll. I was surprised. Everyone at the table really enjoyed their dishes too. I look forward to coming back here again on my next trip to Coronado. **PRO TIP - Yelp currently has a check in offer for a handcrafted cocktail! ”
“ My husband and I chose to sit on the patio for an early lunch, and we were the first the be seated after they opened. We were unaware you were supposed to ask for bread, but we were asked if we had been here before to which we replied we hadn't. Later the server corrected the stumble by sending us off with some fresh bread and butter. Back to the food; we started off with some yellowtail nigiri which was fresh and delicious. Then I ordered the scallops and grits entree while my husband ordered fish and chips. Both were cooked perfectly and there were plenty to eat. I always hate when places only give you three scallops and call it an entree; not the case here! Other than the little snafu with the bread, we enjoyed our meal and experience immensely and will return. ”
